According to the National Family Health Survey III, out of the 400 million children in India, every second child is malnourished; 79% children of the 400 million in India (6-35 months) are anaemic; and adolescent girls (15-19 years) in India are anaemic, as against 30% adolescent boys (NFHS, 2005-06).
Children who came to the supplementary education centre were found malnourished and they often felt fatigue and seldom had energy to carry out activities of daily life. Besides, we found that all those children rarely had meal at night.
To provide nutritional support to children, especially night meal to enhance their functioning across life domains
Nutritional support is provided to 130 children besides, educational support. They are provided snacks, and also nutritious dinner on a daily basis. Necessary health and hygiene education and support, recreation facilities, and redressal mechanisms are also made available to children of Aruwe while focusing on their holistic development.
